You are looking at a somewhat rare and unique RCA BK-1A (MI-11007 model) dynamic microphone currently set at High impedance. This late 1950's / early 60's era mic come with it's original desk stand, cable AD-1 stand adapter so that you may attach this to any desk or floor stand you have if you don't care for the stand provided.
This Microphone has been thoroughly tested and cleaned. It provides a strong usable signal and is a great microphone to use for general broadcasting purposes. It has a "rockabilly" sound being void of bass. Very old school sounding if that is a sound you are searching for as many musicians try to replicate for various sounds. It's omni-directional as well. Absolutely the nicest example of a BK-1A I have ever come across and the best sounding as well. It was very well stored over the years.
The BK-1A was seen at just about any news conference or political rally in the early 1960's being very rugged, reliable and having good tone. Pic # 2 shows President John F Kennedy surrounded by them in a speech.
Pic # 3 shows this very mic in an old RCA catalog with it's basic characteristics and uses.
The BK-1A has uber modern looks for it's time and was one of the last model to utilize the lower joint mechanism that attaches to a stand. Within a few short years almost all mics were being sold with mic clips giving the user the option to hold the mic or simply leave it on a stand. The BK-1A was the last of classic generation of mics.
It's a larger mic as well being 8 inches long with the lower swivel and 1 3/4 inches across at the tip.
This older RCA mic comes in it's original condition. The original umber brown paint shows typical wear for it's age. Just lite scratches, scuff marks, discoloration and worn paint but otherwise not too bad. The front grill is perfect with no odors or dents. The RCA meatball is no longer present and another one will have to be applied at some point.   Often these are missing from years of handling.
The lower satin chrome swivel works excellent and has plenty of tension to get just the angle needed on this mic. There is an RCA AD-1 adapter that allows you to use this mic with any desk or floor stand you have.
The mic originally had a long 30 foot Belden cable that was really heavy and not practical at all just making this mic very difficult to move and set up so it was cut down to just 12 inches and a quality Switchcraft male XLR connector was attached. The cable is balanced as well so you can use either a female XLR to male 1/4 inch extension cable or use any XLR to XLR extension cable. No issues. Both will work fine with this mic. No humming or grounding issues either. This is a mic you can use on a regular occasion.
The original all metal RCA MI-11008 model desk stand is included. This harder to find stand makes an excellent platform for this mic and is in very good overall condition as well. Typical signs of wear on the original paint but zero dents or fractures. The rubber pad on the bottom is still present. Excellent for resale purposes as well.
The mic with stand combo will do any HAM radio operator justice. Again, very strong signal.
An easy 7 cosmetically on a scale of 1 - 10.
Display this old beauty with pride anywhere in the home, office or studio. She'll do any user justice for broadcasting or singing as well. If you demand the best example then look no further.
