vintage 1950's era ASTATIC DN-HZ DYNAMIC MICROPHONE
. This model was sold as a general voice microphone, aptly nicknamed "The Communicator". These would have been used for P.A., ham radio, paging, conferences and auditoriums. Astatic certainly was one of the leading American microphone companies of that era, but unlike RCA, Shure, Altec and Western Electric who were geared toward the high-end user, Astatic marketed more toward the consumer. They certainly did that in a big way, especially in the 70's when the CB Radio crazy swept the country and Astatic lead the charge.
This DN model is in excellent original condition
. The metal casing has an attractive Hammertone Grey paint with a nice chromed front grill, near perfect. The original capsule has been tested
producing 100% strong clean output
. The mic head plugs into Astatic's proprietary F-11 adapter allowing the mic to thread onto any standard mic or floor stand. It's hardwired to a 3' cable with male 1/4" phono plug. This sale
