Description
Offering a vintage1940's SHURE 708A Stratoliner Microphone
, hailed as "
one of the sharpest looking and good sounding general purpose microphones of the mid-20th century"!
There was a lot of design experimentation going on at that time; mics based on car grills, rockets, searchlights, skyscrapers, and this one...nicknamed the "Zeppelin" mic, for it's resemblance to the glorious blimp airships of the era. This "Stratoliner" has a low-z capsule producing
full-range audio profile and strong output
. The metal casing is in
excellent shape
with no scratches, clean front grill cloth, and a pivot joint that holds the tilt angle firmly in place. The maker's badge on the grip is mostly faded from being handled through the decades. This sale
includes a nice 6 foot cable
, 3 pin Amphenol plug to 1/4" male phono plug, and
also includes a period correct metal desk stand
with chromed riser tube. Overall height 13. (If you prefer an XLR plug, we can swap that for you.)
