Description
Offering aunique vintage 1920's WESTERN ELECTRIC Remodded Desk Microphone
. (We made 2 of these which sold fairly quickly...this may be the last one we do.) The framework began life as a
hornless
cone loudspeaker, and now has been
remodded into a working ring spring suspension microphone
. The entire Western Electric frame and ring is one heavy solid cast-aluminum piece...has that classic art-deco vibe from the base to the handle on top with
Western Electric
embossed into the metal. A
vintage TURNER U9
mic head
is the heart of the piece, with a working moving coil dynamic element inside the casing, and
works well (producing good quality audio)
that can be used with any amplifier having a microphone input. The Turner head is suspended by 8 springs anchored to the ring and hardwired to a 2 foot cord terminating with a male XLR plug. (We can install a 1/4" male phono plug if you prefer.) This is a sizable piece...stands 16" tall with the base measuring 9" x 7", and will surely command attention in any room.
