NEW DIE CAST METAL 9-48625 CRAFTSMAN TOOLS 1928 CHEVY CARGO VAN DIECAST TRUCK BANK
...An iconic brand...from Die Cast Metal & Sears, Roebuck and Co., this fine truck is a must-have for serious truck bank collectors and fans of Sears & Craftsman Tools and was was No. 4 in a series of collector banks. The scale is probably 1/25, but there are no markings on the box to verify that. The date of manufacture is also unknown, since it isn't on the box, and I didn't want to disturb the packaging to see if it was cast into the bottom of the model. The vertical windows just aft of the doors are a nice touch to the design. This Chevy cargo van comes in red and black, which will make this a standout piece and a fine addition to your collection. "Chevrolet introduced a restyled series of vehicles in 1928, adding four inches to the 103" wheel base of 1927 and lengthening the hood in the process. The new Chevy featured four wheel mechanical brakes, a three-speed transmission and an upgraded 171 cubic inch four cylinder engine. The 1928 version of the Chevrolet four had a new 4.5:1 compression ratio, producing 35 horsepower and marking the end of the company's four cylinder engine production until the introduction of the Chevy II in 1962.
"Contributing to a very profitable year for General Motors, Chevrolet produced over a million vehicles in 1928. With roughly three fourths of the total production being passenger cars, Chevrolet could justifiably claim to be, "The first choice for the nation in 1928."
I still have numerous truck banks, to be listed as time permits. I just don't have room to display them, so my loss is your gain. This item has never been displayed and was removed from the box only for initial inspection, but I left the inner plastic shell intact.
In the original packaging, retaining its full value. Condition of packaging is as originally purchased, just slightly shopworn, but the box is intact and complete. Be assured that the model will be carefully packed, and
a slightly larger box would have
enough room to fit another.
Another fine item from my collection of quality die cast models...in original packaging, purchased but never displayed. I will miss these well-crafted pieces, but I have no room to display my large die cast collection, so most of it will be listed here in coming weeks.
