    Description

    "From Russia with Love!"
    Offering a
    vintage Okmaba Soviet-era 1955
    Dynamic Microphone
    . Similar to the
    Turner 99/U9
military-esque style casing, it has an
    articulating
yoke and side thumb screws to adjust the tilt angle. And
check out that cool desk stand...
    a
heavy iron base and chrome accent strip with a modern take on the riser tube. This mic is a definite exception to the otherwise bland designs that dominated most Soviet-era microphones. I voice tested this mic and was very pleasantly surprised at the
    super strong/clean output
. The mic has a unique 2 pin connector (included), with the plug port allowing for 2 options, 600 ohms or 200 ohms depending on how you seat the connector.
Comes with that short proprietary connector cable
terminating with a standard 3 pin XLR male plug. This combo has some good weight to it, and measures 11" in height. Just plug it in and you're on! **Always safe packaging and fast shipping.
This Okmaba model was considered a "political microphone" as it was favored by high-ranking USSR members. It was also sold under the banner "The Russian Oktober (October) GDM," although with ‘Odessa' on the label.
The history of it starts in 1936. It was one of Oktava’s first dynamic microphones, made at a time when the factory was not yet named Oktava, but ‘Radio Detal'.
In 1946 the company received a large export order for it and was rewarded a prize.
