Conquistador Spanish morion iron helmet, 1510-1620 AD
Genuine original Spanish iron Morion helmet with 16 copper rivets, which normally support internal leather or cotton garments.
Height: 11 inches = 28 cm;
Length from tip to tip: 15 inches = 37 cm;
Weight: 920 g = 2.03 lb.;
Condition: Strong attraction to the magnet of the majority of iron helmet, except copper rivets.
The rust is visible inside the plume holder. The internal leather hat with under chinstrap – is gone after 500 years of helmet survival.

used from the beginning 16th to early 17th centuries, usually having a flat brim and a crest from front to back.
Its introduction was contemporaneous with the exploration of North, Central and South America.
Explorers such as
Hernando de Soto
and
Coronado
may have supplied them to their foot soldiers in the 1540’s.
