    Description

    Circa 1964 Lafayette PA 422 WXS 35 watt tube amp.  Uses 6L6GCs (2), 12AX7s (2) and a 6AV6 (1).  6L6GCs are a new matched pair.  6AV6 is an NOS RCA.  12AX7s are new JJ 12AX7s.
All tubes are new and unused.
In addition to replacing every film and electrolytic capacitor, bias rectifier replaced by a new uf4007, and the original silicon bridge rectifier was replaced by a new ten amp 1000 volt bridge rectifier with heat sink bolted to the chassis.  Note that this version uses a bridge rectifier instead of a 5AR4 rectifier tube.  Three prong power cord is new.  Power switch was replaced.  Pilot light bulb is new.  The original Amphenol microphone jacks were replaced with modern 1/4 inch phone jacks.  All resistors checked.  Many were replaced by higher-wattage resistors.  The plate resistors on every tube are new.  The inadequate 2 watt 560 ohm grid resistor on the 6L6GCs was replaced by a 10 watt wire wound.  All voltages (including the bias voltage) were checked and verified.  After adjusting the fixed bias voltage, I played this at full volume for hours.  No red plating.  No overheating.  It's very stable & works as it should.
Note that this design does not include a master volume control.  MIC 1 & 2 have individual volume controls.  The phone/radio control is a FADER, not a volume control.  You use it to mix phone & radio signals from the RCA input jacks.  The phono input accommodates both ceramic & magnetic cartridges via a slide switch.
I tested all inputs and they all work fine.  I plugged in my Fender Squire guitar, and was amazed at how this sounded as a guitar amp.  I later learned that the PA 422 is regarded as an excellent guitar amp.
I will include copies of the schematic.  Operation is pretty simple.
Shipping weight is 25 pounds.  Dimensions are 18 by 6 by 11 inches.
