There are 3 sizes of this buckler; 9",
12", and this one the largest with 15" diameter
. See last photo for comparison.
Used from the 12th thru the 18th century, the buckler achieved a deserved reputation as both a defensive and offensive arm. Indispensable in both classical rapier play and I.33 sparring, it has become an essential part of the modern swordsman`s equipment. Crafted in 14 gauge steel, all of our GDFB bucklers have rolled edges and come in three sizes to meet individual needs. This leather-covered version combines functionality and aesthetics. The steel tube grip and 14 gauge scalloped boss are both securely riveted to the body of the buckler.

    Diameter: 15" (large)
    Weight: 6 lbs
Handle is 5-1/4" long and offset so about 2-3/4" clearance for gloved and gauntleted hands.
There are 5 different styles of bucklers from GDFB, and each comes in 9", 12" & 15" diameters (see last photo to compare),  plus one larger plain that's 18". I'll be listing more in coming months. I'd carry them all if I had room to store them. This leather covered is most popular, the dark leather covering the face and scalloped boss look great in the field and at fairs.

. If you want a buckler or shield for HEMA sparring these are the best on the market, and this one by far the most beautiful. The various sizes are widely used for all styles of fighting. See photos I included with a couple of our knights on the field. The only complaint I've ever had about these is that they're heavy compared to some. What can I say? I mean, I have a sword that weighs a little over 3 pounds, I think I can hold a buckler up for a while. That's ok if you prefer to fight with a cute little polycarbonate one but good luck when your opponents start beating on you with heavy steel weapons
